Tiny Cat Waits Patiently While Her Spot Gets Cleaned

Tiny Cat Waits Patiently While Her Spot Gets Cleaned

Patience is a virtue, and this kitty's got it in spades!  That she's standing on her hind legs like a meerkat while waiting for her human to finish cleaning only ups the cuteness quotient.  This is nine seconds of pure adorableness, so play it a few times--you deserve it!

Rescue Pit Bull Gets His Own Kitty, Loves Her Like A Daughter

Rescue Pit Bull Gets His Own Kitty, Loves Her Like A Daughter

Bubba, the 6-year-old rescue pit bull, has always been obsessed with cats. It started when his human mom Rebecca Pizzello got him from a shelter in Phoenix, Arizona when he was just 3 months old. Her roommate was caring for a litter of kittens and Bubba just clicked with them. Finally, after 6 years of waiting, Pizzello surprised her mellow pit with his very own kitten.

“I always knew he’d love having one of his own but I wanted to wait until we moved to NYC this year,” Pizzello says. She got the tiny ginger kitten from a shelter, too. “The fact that Bubba and Rue have identical coloring still blows my mind…I knew Bubba would be filled with joy the second we walked in the door and  boy was I right.”

After only a few hours at her new home, the kitten fell asleep on Bubba. “I think Rue thinks Bubba is her mom and Bubba loves it,” Pizzello added. “He bathes her like a baby and snuggles close to her to make her comfortable.  They will definitely be a fun duo to watch grow up together!”

This ‘Vampire’ Hedgehog Is Instagram’s Newest Star

Meet Huff, a 3-year-old rescue African Pygmy hedgehog from Utah whose adorable fangs have earned him a following of 12k people on Instagram. Otherwise known as Sir Hodge Huffington the Cricket Slayer, the cutie-pie was adopted by student Carolyn Parker after his previous owner treated him badly.

“A lot of people in Utah struggle with seasonal depression-including myself,” Parker says. “I started the account because I wanted to share something that made me happy with other people. Huff comes off as being grumpy and “huffy” but is really lovable and cuddly on the inside. I think that’s why there is such a large fan base for hedgehogs…because a lot of people can relate.”

The Way This Cat Reacts to the Vacuum is the Funniest Thing You'll See Today

No two cats are exactly alike, and while most cats run from the sound of the vacuum cleaner, this one just can't get enough!  It strikes me as a bit odd--but then again, the heart wants what it wants.  Who are we to judge?  Watch and laugh instead!

If there's one thing that's true about cats, it's that they hate water.  If there's another thing that's true about cats, it's that they're completely unpredictable!  And so we have this resourceful little guy, who's jury-rigged his own private wading pool to beat the heat.  This is probably the best example of feline ingenuity you'll see all day!

Lioness And 8 Cubs Pose For Pawsomest Family Portrait

Lioness And 8 Cubs Pose For Pawsomest Family Portrait

Photographer Barbara Fleming captured a once-in-a-lifetime shot of a lion family in Tanzania. 8 lovely cubs obediently lined up next to a lioness and all looked directly to the camera as if instructed.

The photo was taken 2 years ago in the Serengeti Loliondo Conservation. The cubs belong to 3 different lionesses – they’re one big happy cat family! The lionesses didn’t seem to be bothered about the photoshoot, too, they were proud to show off their little ones.

It’s especially nice to see such a picture when you consider that the population of these majestic animals is rapidly decreasing. The number of the big catsplummeted from 450,000 in the early 1940s to only 20,000 now.

Cat Makes Every Animal On The Farm Carry Him Around Like A King

Cat Makes Every Animal On The Farm Carry Him Around Like A King

Teton was brought to the farm to keep the mice in check.

But he turned out to be the kind of cat who kept all the animals in line. As a kitten, he was always roughhousing with animals monumentally bigger than him — the horses, miniature ponies, goats, even a miniature donkey.

At just 3 months old, he ruled Joanna and Scott Shaw's farm in Elizabeth, Colorado, a 7-acre spread dubbed Snowfall Ranch. So much so, in fact, he often jumped on the animals' backs to better survey his kingdom.

1

"We do see him on the miniature horses and donkey the most," Joanna Shaw says. "He also sleeps in their stall with them."

Teton first made headlines back in 2014 for his penchant for perching atop the other farm animals.

2

Years later, Teton remains the undisputed ruler of the barn. At least until a snowstorm blows in. Then the mighty Teton turns into something of a scaredy-cat.

3

"He tends to ride them more in snow with the belief being he doesn't want to get paws wet," Shaw explains.

So when things get a little scary on the farm, this cat turns to friends in high places. But, it turns out, he's also become a fairweather friend to the other animals.

4

"When they are turned out in pasture he goes with them," Shaw says. "He will lay with them on the 7 acres and I would guess he believes he is one of them."

Cedar

This skin-and-bones pupster was scrounging around, begging for quarters at a local golf course. Luckily for him he was taken in by a golfer nearby, and now he's living the good life.

2

Rasta

Rasta is a fitting name for this partial toy mix. The matted fur on this dog was obviously a chore to remove. But it's worth it for a happy pooch like this.

3

Ellen

It's surprising this is a mutt terrier after all that hair was removed. Over 2 pounds of hair was removed from this pooch.

4

Woody

Woody got dumped when his master died. He hid around town for days. Evidently he decided it was time for a haircut.

5

This poor baby was almost dead in her own box when they found her. Luckily somebody nursed her back to health.

Inseparable Kitties Outgrow Their Bed Together in These Cute Photos

Inseparable Kitties Outgrow Their Bed Together in These Cute Photos

Lili and Renley are litter-mates and best furiends for life.  As you can see, the two are inseparable and refuse to relinquish their beloved kitten-hood bed, even though they’re really stretching the boundaries of “if I fits, I sits” these days.

Staking their claim from Day 1.

1

"They're siblings, and we got them when they were 8 weeks old," owner Sonja told Love Meow. "They both just love sleeping there so they both butt into it until someone gets too hot and moves elsewhere."

Lili’s the sweet gray girl and Renley’s the tabby with a classic ginger purrsonality.

2

Occasionally, they try a more spacious napping spot…

3

But they always come back to their old favorite!

"Lili is a sweet, sensitive and well mannered little kitty and Renley is like a bull in a china shop," adds Sonja. "He always needs to be the center of attention and doesn't mind using force to get what he wants!"

The world's cutest jigsaw!

4

"C'mon, sis! There's plenty of room for BOTH of us!"

5

There's nothing better than sleeping in the paws of someone you love.

6

Best furiends forever!

Watch What This Cat Does When He Wants To Come Inside

Cats are masters at letting their humans know exactly what they want.  But some cats are better than others, as Bruno the ginger tabby so aptly demonstrates.

According to his owner Patrick: “Our cat Bruno lets us know he wants in by ringing the doorbell. He only does it when he knows we’re awake and not in bed, so the bell never goes off at 4 in the morning. Smart cat.”

Sleeping Clouded Leopard Cub Is The Best Thing You'll See All Day

Sleeping Clouded Leopard Cub Is The Best Thing You'll See All Day

The Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa, FL just released this insanely adorable video of twin clouded leopard cubs, born on February 29th.  These two gorgeous girls, Aiya and Shigu, are making their first explorations of the outside world, a crucial stage in the development of clouded leopards, who are among the smallest of the big cats.

Clouded leopards are listed as a "vulnerable" species, due to human encroachment--in the form of poaching and deforestation--on their native Southeast Asian forest habitats, which is why breeding them in captivity is considered an essential step in their long-term preservation.

2

The two petite beauties at the Lowry Zoo are expected to weigh between 30 and 60 pounds when fully grown and measure about five feet from tip to tail.  They're shy around humans (and rightfully so), but check out the video below to catch a rare glimpse of a napping cub.  And feel free to "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!" to your heart's content!

Homeless Dog Found In Garbage Becomes A Lion

Homeless Dog Found In Garbage Becomes A Lion

When German photographer Julie Marie Werner found a scruffy homeless dog hunting for scraps of food in her garbage in Spain, she fell in love with him immediately. While other people saw nothing but a homeless mutt, she saw a brave little lion, and she now wants the world to share her vision with this heartwarming series of photographs.

The cute canine model is named Tschikko Leopold von Werner, and the project is called Grossstadtlowe, which means “Big City Lion”. And as you can see from these pictures, he really does look like the king of the (urban) jungle! Julie believes that Tschikko was left to fend for himself after being thrown from a car in Spain. He’s come a long way since then, not just emotionally but also geographically, as after deciding to adopt him Julie brought Tschikko back to live with her in Germany.

Swan Hugs The Man Who Rescued Her By Wrapping Her Neck Around Him

Swan Hugs The Man Who Rescued Her By Wrapping Her Neck Around Him

Swans are not particularly affectionate or approachable animals. They’re territorial and can be quite intimidating. Which is why the moment when an injured swan hugged Richard Wiese, the host of the television show “Born to Explore” is so touching.

A few years back, Wiese was visiting the U.K.’s Abbotsbury Swannery when he ran into the swan who had been injured after flying into a chain-link fence. Wiese helped to examine the swan by holding her.

“When I put it next to me I could feel its heart beating and it just relaxed its neck and wrapped it around mine,” Wiese told ABC News. “It’s a wonderful moment when an animal totally trusts you.”

Live Animals Are Stuck Inside These Plastic Keychains

Live Animals Are Stuck Inside These Plastic Keychains

This bizarre souvenir gives the phrase pocket pets new meaning.

Vendors in China have been selling live animal keychains for years: small plastic bubbles containing trapped turtles, fish, salamanders and frogs.

1

CNN first reported on them in 2011. The little animals are suspended in brightly colored liquid, often along with beads and other decorations, and are barely able to move.

2

The water supposedly contains oxygen and nutrients that can keep them alive for a few days.

3

Of course, animal activists have condemned the keychains as unnaturally cruel, as the animals inevitably die once their oxygen wears off.

In the best case scenario, they're freed from their prisons and end up as pets to people who aren't prepared to care for them.

4

There's also the psychological cruelty of trapping a sentient animal in a living grave.

5

This video shows a tiny turtle spinning around and trying to escape — but there's no way out.

Unfortunately it's not the first time animals have featured in unusual fashion trends. In South America, living beetles are covered in gems and worn as brooches. And earlier this year, a watch company unveiled a watch filled with live ants; after receiving widespread public backlash, the company said it was an early April Fool's joke.

You can watch a video of the desperate little keychain animals below.

Raven Asks Human for Help with Painful Quills After Porcupine Attack

Raven Asks Human for Help with Painful Quills After Porcupine Attack

Gertie Cleary compared the experience to a child with a splinter. "[W]hen you pull a splinter out, they holler and screech and pull their hand away," she told CTV News.

The young raven fledgling who visited Cleary's Nova Scotia home last month had just borne the brunt of a porcupine attack, and was clearly reaching out to Cleary for help in extracting the painful quills that were attached to its face.

Her daughter caught the amazing incident on camera and uploaded it to YouTube.

According to the description, the bird, which the family named Wilfred, stuck around for a day after the "operation" before flying away.

Hope for Wildlife director Hope Swinimer commended Cleary on her actions, saying Wilfred would not have survived without her help.

Quoth the Raven: "Thanks, lady!"

The Miraculous Story of Stockings, the Pretzel-Legged Kitty

The Miraculous Story of Stockings, the Pretzel-Legged Kitty

Stockings had a rough start at life. The orange tabby was born with a severe birth defect that left him unable to stand or walk.

1

He was only a few weeks old when he was brought in to Chicago's Tree House Humane Society. Despite his handicap, Stockings just wanted to run and play like any other kitten!

2

His first surgery was in October of 2014; this would be the first of multiple procedures to correct his tendons and the direction of his feet.

3

Stockings' right leg didn't respond well to surgery at first. He would go on to have two more operations. “We went forward with surgery knowing we could never make him normal,” said Dr. Steve Neihaus. “Our goal was to make his feet functional so he could live a happy, pain-free life.”

4

He was a little wobbly at first, but soon enough Stockings was was walking and running on his own.  His foster mom, one of the vet techs at the Chicago Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center, decided to adopt him officially.

5

Stockings is one of thousands of kittens rescued, treated, and homed by the wonderful people of Tree House Humane in Chicago. Homer's mom is proud to serve on their advisory board!

Penguin Swims 5,000 Miles Every Year To See The Man Who Saved His Life

In 2011, 71-year-old former bricklayer and fisher Joao Pereira de Souza found a South American Magellanic penguin covered in oil and fighting for its life. The kind man nursed the penguin back to health and called him Dindim. After some time, Dindim was ready for the world out there, however, he wouldn’t leave Joao’s side. When he did, people said that he’d never come back. Amazingly, Dindim has returned to visit the man every year.

“I love the penguin like it’s my own child and I believe the penguin loves me,” Joao told Globo TV. “No one else is allowed to touch him. He pecks them if they do. He lays on my lap, lets me give him showers, allows me to feed him sardines and to pick him up.”
