Just wanted to let everyone know that Bones, the blind black kitty in SC at the high-kill shelter, has found a “furrever” home. He should be on his way there now, if he’s not there already.
Many thanks to everybody who helped spread the word, made inquiries at the shelter where he was being held, offered to help transport him to a no-kill shelter in Nashville, and generally sent good thoughts in his direction.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” –Margaret Meade
Thank you to everyone for helping to make the world an infinitely better place for one small cat who deserved a second chance!
Excellent! Thanks for the update. Now, if we could just get society as a whole to be as motivated to find ALL our homeless pets a forever home!
Thank you Gwen for using your blog as a means to get the word out. The resolution of Bones’ situation is a perfect example of how individuals can come together and collectively make a huge difference.
Melaine, I agree! Then shelters & rescues would be a thing of the past! What a nice world THAT would be!
Oh PS:
Jen will keep me posted so when I see something or get a PM from her, I’ll post it here!
Great news -:) I had been keeping him in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for the update Gwen!
A big Thank You!! to Gwen and everyone else involved in saving Bones. Does anyone else have room in their home for a rescued kitty? I foster and it’s very rewarding.
Stories like this are a light in what sometimes seems like a very dark world. Bones is a lucky kitty and I hope his story inspires others. Thanks for the update!
Another kitty saved!!! No wonder the sun decided to come out today!! Thanks for letting us know
Hearing that Bones has a “furrever” home is great news! Many blessings to Bones new family & many thoughts & prayers to Bones! Thanks for the updates, Gwen!
Update on Bones from Jody Butler, the lady that was going to adopt him (she posted this on a Facebook thread some of us have going):

Ladies, if you haven’t read my posts elsewhere, I’m only going to e able to foster Bones, the sweet blind boy we just saved from Greenville, SC. My very patient, cat loving CCM firmly thinks he is a foster not a
Forever family member and I can’t argue after all the kitties I’ve brought home and all he does for BCR.
So…please ask around for anyone interested in being a forever parent to a special needs boy. I will help transport and we are coming to NC next weekend.
I’ve Emailed Gwen about this – poor Bones! Can ANYONE help?
Laura
Gwen, does Bones really have a FURREVER home? I see that you posted your blog on March 3, and look at your responses — on March 7 Laura Carter e-mailed that Jody, the woman who was taking Bones, can only FOSTER him not adopt him.
RSVP — thanks!
