It seems Blind Cat Rescue here in NC is on it. I posted it to my FB page and to theirs and then saw they had it on there … I’m SO hoping they work something out! Gwen, please keep us posted! It’s SO kind of you to help w/the costs! Love you!
Laura, that’s a brilliant example of all the great GOOD social networking can do, and why I have no patience with people who just sniff at Facebook or Twitter: learn how to use it, I say! Gwen, bless you a million times for taking up this adorable little guy’s cause; I hope we next read about him in a happy home.
I have emailed both the Greenville County Shelter in SC and Blind Cat Rescue here in NC. I also am hoping that together we can save this little guy! Thank you, Gwen for all that you do for Blind Cat Rescue.
Gwen, that is FANTASTIC of you! The poor little guy, he doesn’t look like he feels very good, with that flea dermatitis (I assume that’s why he has thin fur/pinkish-looking skin around upper nose and mouth….I assume you’ve also ‘advertised’ this issue on your Facebook site?
And UPDATE: I looked at “Magoo House” website and it is a **separate** shelter for blind cats. Isn’t that weird — I had never heard of a shelter for only blind cats, and here there are TWO in North Carolina? Fantastic!
I sure hope a ‘driver’ can be found for BONES — that’s what he looks like, sure needs some love and fattening up!
I wish I was in a position to adopt him! I’m a sucker for blindies… hence Wonder sucking my bank account dry! I drove 13 hours from Maryland to Nashville (and 13 hours back to Maryland) just to adopt my little Wondercat. It was a pricey trip and he continues to be a pricey cat. But he is worth every red cent. (He’s currently crashed out in the hut on his tower. He had a rough day of being cute and getting into stuff.) I hope there’s someone else out there who will do the same and adopt this little guy.
Hint hint hint…
Wow TWO blind cat rescues in NC? SUPER!
And Gisele, I TOTALLY agree. Word gets around on FB AND Catster.com and people come together to help, even if all they can do is post info in their status lines. BRAVA!!
I wrote to the Greenville shelter above this morning and the person says she has gotten no confirmation that someone can take this cat, only emails from people willing to help. What is up? What rescue has agreed to take it? I can help with transport from Knoxville, TN to Nashville.
Melanie:
Are you on Facebook? I believe there is a string of people trying to figure out how to get this guy to (I think) Blind Cat Rescue in St. Paul NC. If you are on FB, friend me! Meanwhile I’ll go to my account & confirm.
They’ve named him Bones!
Jen Lawley on FB is in on this.
PAWSOME NEWS! Jen Lawley just PM’ed me on FB regarding Bones and said:
“We are in the process of springing him from “jail” and have a new meowmy for him!!”
YAY!!!! More as I find out!
More info from Jen:
“Bones is coming to Georgia. We are in the middle of springing him today (we hope today–you know how red tape always gets in the way). Anyway a lady named Emily will be busting him out of jail and I’m going to meet her on Wednesday to bring him to his new meowmy.”
YAY!!!!!
Hey, guys! This is such amazing news! Please, please keep me posted! I’ve emailed Colleen Conway, at the no-kill shelter in TN, who first alerted me to Bones and let me know they’d be willing to take him in if someone could get him there from NC. I’ll give her a call tomorrow if I don’t hear from her today, but in the meantime let me know any new info you have as I’ve gotten two very kind offers from people willing to drive him to TN.
You guys are the best!
I hope Bones is really getting a new home in Georgia! Please tell me it’s true…
Randi:
Yes, apparently so – a new furever home! I’ll post when I’ve taken a look at my FB page & gotten an update!
Laura
Is there an update on this situation?
BONES UPDATE 3/3/10, 8:42 AM
Bones’ adoption was approved, he went to the vet, and it’s being confirmed that it’s okay for him to be picked up. If everything goes through, Jen Lawley will pick him up either tomorrow or Friday to bring him back to Jody (I’m thinking that’s his new meowmy’s name).
PAWSOME!!
PS – Jen will be taking pictures along the way to document Bones’ journey to his new home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SWEET!!!
