Be a Homer's Hero for the LOVE SAVES THE DAY National Shelter Tour

We're looking for a few good men and women to help us wrangle all the donations of blankets and toys for the shelters I'll be visiing on my tour this summer.  Do you live in one of the tour cities?  Have a knack for keeping things organized?  If so, you can help!

By now (hopefully!) you know that the LOVE SAVES THE DAY National Shelter Tour kicks off in New York City on May 2nd and will travel to no-kill shelters, sanctuaries, and rescue groups across the country all summer long (for a complete list of tour dates and stops, click here).  Our corporate sponsors and donors will be contributing 500 pounds of litter and 400 cans of food to each shelter on the tour stop--plus, Litter Genie is offering one complimentary Litter Genie (like a Diaper Genie, but for litter) to each and every fan who attends a tour event!  (While supplies last--so make sure you come early!)  More about this in a separate post later this week.

In addition, many readers have generously offered to donate toys, blankets, and other "creature comforts" to the shelters on the tour.  Basically, what I need is one reliable person in each tour city who's willing to have the donations for that city shipped to him or her, and who can commit to delivering those donations to the shelter in his or her town on the day of the event.  Love does save the day--for animals and humans both.  We're going to spend the whole summer proving it!

It's never been easier to be a Homer's Hero!  :D  If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, drop me a line at gwen(at)gwencooper(dot)com and let me know.  And if you're interested in donating some toys or blankets or other goodies yourself, drop me a line at the same address.  Be sure to indicate which city you live in and/or which city/shelter you'd like to donate items to.

I look forward to seeing you on the road!

I would love to help if you will need help at the bonus stop in Sept. at the Blind Cat Rescue in St. Pauls NC. I am so excited that you will be coming to that shelter. As I live only 11 miles from it and support it since I found out about these kitties I would have not problem lending a hand.

I am so excited that you are going to be in Dallas May 15th. I am making a special effort to be there and am anxiously awaiting the announcement of the location. I called a friend and told her that meeting you is on my 'bucket list' so she's going to come with me. She is getting a copy of Homer's Odyssey so she will know about our boy. . .hope you don't mind if we claim a small part of him as ours. He is the Universal Cat.
